Color Creations and BE Campaign
Color Creations Ltd. was established in 1999 in Kenya as a branding company before merging with Taurus Afrika Ltd. in 2001. Since its inception, the company has worked with hundreds of clients to provide them with branded merchandise in the form of T-shirts, coffee mugs, caps, and bags among other high-visibility items. In 2007, Color Creations Ltd. invested in fully automating its factory to increase production capacity. That same year, Color Creations also became the first company in the branding industry within Sub-Saharan Africa to receive global quality management systems standard ISO 9000:2001 certification. Recently, Muraya launched BSD Ltd., which is an integrated brand strategy consultancy that helps clients develop their brand strategies. In addition, Color Creations Trust was established in 2008 to empower entrepreneurs by providing business mentorship, market linkages, capacity building and ICT services, and enterprise promotion and support. In building this model, Muraya has guaranteed that the BE Campaign and Color Creations Trust will be able to leverage the work of both Color Creations Ltd. and BSD Ltd. More specifically, entrepreneurs who join the BE Campaign can purchase merchandise manufactured by Color Creation Ltd. and sell that merchandise in local markets. Additionally, BSD Ltd. has the capacity to channel brand strategy advice to: a) the BE Campaign as a whole, and b) to individual entrepreneurs that want to further grow their businesses. With approximately 200 entrepreneurs already in place, Color Creations is currently seeking further partnerships to implement integrated systems and processes to promote and formally launch the platform. The company's innovative strategies and strong work ethic has been recognized by the IFC, the Kenyan Institute of Management, Goldman Sachs, and the Pioneers of Prosperity Legatum Africa Business Awards, among others.
