Sunlabob Renewable Energy Ltd. is one of Laos' main alternative energy companies serving remote areas across the country. Through innovative financing schemes, which enable the company to do direct sales as well as establish its own projects, Sunlabob implements products and services such as hybrid village grids, solar water pumps, solar lamps, and water purification systems in villages that lack access to energy sources. With its 50 person head office located in Laos' capital, Vientiane, Sunlabob has strong relationships across the value chain from Laos' Ministry of Energy to NGOs that train villagers in using electricity in their daily lives to community decision makers at the grassroots level. Sunlabob is becoming well known across the renewable energy / development space as various NGOs, companies, and delegations from countries such as Afghanistan, Uganda, and Bangladesh go to Laos to learn about its operations and transfer these energy solutions back to their respective countries. Sunlabob has also been internationally recognized through awards including the Ashden Award in 2007 and most recently as a finalist for the Asia Form for Clean Energy Financing Awards.
